Calling for interest session / workshop Presenters
Presenters and workshop leaders are invited to apply to be part of Choralfest 2010.
Any presenter with workshops and interest sessions that are of particular interest to choral musicians are welcome to express their interest in presenting. Workshops may be of a 'hands-on', forum discussion, small panel, round table, open rehearsal or any other presentation format.

Invitation to submit an abstract/paper
You are invited to submit an abstract/paper for presentation at the ANCA National Conference, Choralfest 2010. Abstracts and papers are due by 1 February 2010.

Authors are invited to submit for;
Workshops
Workshops will be allocated 60 minutes. Workshops should be interactive sessions and authors should specify in their abstract proposal how this aim is achieved.
Interest Sessions
Interest sessions will be allocated 60 minutes. Interest sessions should be interactive sessions and authors should specify in their abstract proposal how this aim is achieved.
Repertoire Sessions
Repertoire sessions will be allocated 60 minutes. Repertoire session should be interactive sessions and presenters should specify in their abstract proposal style / genre and sample list of repertoire.
Spoken Formats / Panel / Discussion Forums
Oral papers will be allocated 30-minutes, including 10-minutes question time.
You can use the online document to prepare your abstract and paper by typing over the top of the text or you can edit your existing abstract to match the formatting specified there. It is important you include the authors' names, affiliations and addresses and indicate the presenting author.
The abstract of the workshop / interest session / paper only will be published. All abstracts and papers are to be submitted electronically via the Conference website www.choralfest.org.au which will be available 9th November 2009. Whilst you will be asked to indicate your preferred presentation format the Conference Artistic Committee may request an alternative format be considered.
Abstracts and full papers are due by 5.00pm on the following dates.

Submitting your abstract/paper
Go to the Interest/Workshop presenters on the Conference website at www.choralfest.org.au which will be available from Monday 9th November 2009.
1. Prepare your abstract/paper
Use the MS Word 2003 or 2007 to prepare your abstract/paper.
Include the author/s name/s, affiliations and addresses and indicate the presenting author in the document.
2. Register your presentation
Click on the abstract/paper submission link to enter your contact details and the presentation title. You can enter the details for multiple presentations.
3. Upload your abstract/paper at www.choralfest.org.au
At the end of the registration process you will be asked to upload your abstract/paper in MS Word (.doc or .dox).
You will be given an access code during the submission process which will enable you to re-enter the Interest session/workshop presenters area, where you can make changes to your abstract/paper up until 5.00pm 1 February 2010.
Themes
Authors are NOT required to have a theme for their abstract, however they are asked to ensure that the paper addresses areas of interest to choral conductors, such as (but not limited to)
· Issues concerning Primary / Secondary / Community Choirs
· Conducting and rehearsing techniques
· Choral music and popular musicians
· Choral music in and through the community
· Repertoire for choral conductor (please state genre / style)
· Technology and choral musicians
· Inclusion and choral music.
Submission formats
Spoken Papers
· Abstracts and full papers are due by 1 February 2010
· Abstracts (200 words) and full papers (no more than 4000 words)
· Abstracts must be submitted as MS Word documents (.doc)
· Full papers may be either MS Word 2003 or 2007 documents (.doc or .dox)
· The completed paper, with any amendments as a result of the selection process, is due by Monday 15 March, 2010
Workshops / Interest Sessions
· Abstracts (200-500 words) are due by 1 February 2010
· Abstracts must be submitted as MS Word 2003 or 2007 documents (.doc or .dox)
· Workshop presentation sessions will be 60 minutes in length.
The format of the presentation is at the discretion of the presenter(s). The body of the workshop should be presented in no more than 50 minutes and then allow a further 5–10 minutes for discussion and feedback.
Workshop presenters are required to provide all instruments for their session, with the exception of a piano which will through negotiation may be provided by the Conference Organising Committee in the workshop space.
Formatting of full papers
- All papers (including references) must be presented using the APA Formatting and Style Guide (5th edition)
- Papers should not exceed 4,000 words
- Font should be Times New Roman 12 point
- Single-spacing
- New paragraph indent of 1 cm with no space between paragraphs
- Headings hierarchy as per APA
- Tables inserted within text
- A4 page
- 2.54 cm (1 inch) margin on all sides
- Any diagrams must be as embedded (inserted) as bitmaps <.bmp>, CompuServe bitmaps <.gif>, or joint photographic experts group <.jpeg> or <.jpg> files
Presentation guidelines
Presenters are asked to avoid reading their paper verbatim. Emphasis should be on interaction with the audience, after brief explanatory and informative communication over the paper's content and aim.
Each programmed paper session will be 30 minutes in length.
Papers should be presented in no more than 20–25 minutes and then allow a further 5–10 minutes for discussion and feedback.
The format of the presentation is at the discretion of the author(s). A further 5 minutes will be timetabled for transition time, for delegates to move to the next programmed paper.

Presenters Registration
All selected presenters will be required to submit a registration form (hardcopy or online) and pay the registration fee. Speakers need to meet their own travel and accommodation costs.

Option 1
Conference Delegate
Includes full access to all key note presentations, choice of up to 14 workshops, interest sessions, open rehearsals per day, all concerts and morning/afternoon teas and lunch.
Option 2
Big Sing Participant
Includes being part of the thrill of a massed choir conducted by a world renown conductor, all key note presentations, choice of up to 2 workshops, interest sessions, open rehearsals per day, all concerts and morning/afternoon teas and lunch (also available with catering)
Option 3
National Secondary Honour Choir
Open to all secondary students in Years 10 - 12 by audition. This choir will be conducted by Jing Ling Tam, Professor of Choral Studies at UTA. Prof Ling Tam has conducted the USA All state and Honour Choirs at the American Choral directors Association's national conventions.
The experience will be one every secondary student who loves singing should be a part of.
Trade Display and Sponsorship options
Any business that is of interest to Choral musicians may apply for a trade display booth at this conference.
The conference will be made up of Conference Delegates, Big Sing Choir participants, secondary school honour choir members and their families, as well as performing choirs, presenters and public attendee to concerts. As you can with over 500 participants within this conference any sponsorship is well worth the money.
Businesses may take a trade display only or may choose to sponsor one or more items for the conference.
