This concert features two contrasting works: Beethoven’s Mass in C and Elaine Hagenberg’s Illuminare.
These two compelling works for choir and orchestra, written over 300 years apart - one by a man revered as one of the greatest composers of all time, and one by a woman, a rising star in contemporary classical composition. Ludwig von Beethoven’s Mass in C expresses the full range of human experience and emotion, and Elaine Hagenberg’s Illuminare weaves together traditional Latin, Greek and English texts, taking the listener through a season of beauty and goodness disrupted by darkness and confusion. Both works, with their contrasting voices, leave the listener with hope and restoration.
Brisbane Chorale is proud to present this very special concert, with Sinfonia of St Andrew’s and conductor Emily Cox. |
