    Rehearsals begin Tuesday 2nd September, 2025 at 7:30pm, with the concert on Sunday 30th November, 2025. We welcome singers of all voice types, but particularly basses!

    This year’s concert will feature a program of traditional Christmas carols and Australian carols, filling the season with warmth and festive spirit.

    No audition is required – just bring along your enthusiasm, your voice, and a love of music!

    Seeking a Music Director / Conductor
    The Southside Singers community choir (based in Salisbury, Brisbane) is seeking a new music director to lead their rehearsals and performances. The ideal candidate will be someone who can inspire and challenge singers of varying skill levels, fostering a supportive and engaging environment. 
    Conditions offered
    • 2 hours rehearsal per term night
    • Fee of $200 - $250 (to be negotiated depending on experience etc) paid per term night rehearsal with payment of fees negotiated for events
    • 1-2 possible performances per year, open to negotiation
    • Work with the committee
    • Cordless mic, amplifier and keyboard available

    About the choir
    • The choir was formed in 2018.  
    • We meet weekly on Thursdays (6.45pm for 7pm to 9pm, with a 10-minute break) throughout 10-week terms (reflecting the Queensland school calendar)
    • We sing predominantly SAB arrangements, although occasionally we will sing two part or four-part songs, splitting either the altos or the sopranos, depending on the arrangement. 
    • We typically have around 30 people at each rehearsal but, as with most community choirs, exactly who is in the room each week is often different. 
    • The group contains some great humans and rehearsals are normally littered with a lot of laughing and opportunity for exchange. 
    • A committee organises the choir, purchases recommended music, and works with the music director for the term’s program including performances.
    The conductor's responsibilities 
    • Leading weekly rehearsals and performances.
    • Inspiring and challenging singers.
    • Maintaining a supportive and engaging environment.
    • Making musical decisions collaboratively with the committee, including repertoire, lyrics, sheet music, and accompaniment.
    • Preparing the choir for public performances.
    The choir is looking for someone with: 
    • A passion for bringing people together in song.
    • Strong musical ability and preferably experience as a choir director.
    • Good vocal skills and the ability to develop them in others.
    • Excellent people skills and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups.

    The Chronicle Singers, a new vocal ensemble based in Brisbane/Meanjin, is seeking expressions of interest from singers to join us for our upcoming Advent Concert Series and our 2026/2027 Season.  We're looking for passionate musicians who are eager to collaborate and create meaninful music together.

    Upbeat Arts is seeking an exceptional Choir Piano Accompanist to work with our new Gold Coast Choir. This role supports our Conductor in fostering a positive and inclusive environment, and contributing to the artistic and personal development of our members.

    Upbeat Arts provides group-based recovery programs tailored for long-term clients of Queensland Mental Health services, focusing on enhancing confidence, self-esteem, communication, and life skills. Our arts programs foster social connections, positive mental health, and overall well-being. Singing in an Upbeat Arts choir offers our members a supportive and enjoyable environment to connect with like-minded individuals.
    As a non-government, non-profit organisation and accredited organisation, we are dedicated to transforming lives through the arts. Since launching our inaugural choir in Brisbane in 2014, followed by a second in North Brisbane in 2022, and more recently a third on the Sunshine Coast in June 2024, we continue to expand our impact. The new Gold Coast Choir is first part of the roll-out of 4 new choirs across South East Queensland. Additionally, we conduct two creative writing workshops each week for our members to enjoy.

    YOUR ROLE
    As an Upbeat Arts Accompanist, you will bring your musical skills to the team, and you’ll be collaborating closely with our Conductor. Upbeat Arts manages the operational aspects of the choir, including member and volunteer recruitment, communication, record-keeping, and all other logistical needs essential for sustaining a choir.
    No two rehearsals will be the same, as you work with our team and our dedicated choir members and volunteer buddies.
    Together, we pursue exciting performance opportunities, which you will help the choir prepare for.

    DAYS AND TIMES
    • During the day, during the week – 10:15am to 12:15pm
    • Weekly closely aligned to school terms – 45 per annum

    The Taverner Consort of Voices, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, is actively looking for new choristers  to join its friendly community of some 25 singers.  If you are a keen singer with some previous choir experience we would love to hear from you.  All voice parts are welcome, but we are particulalry eager to add to our soprano line up at this time.  

    The choir's repertoire covers a wide range of music, from early music to present day compositions.    We generally perform 2 concerts per year, with a break in June/July.  We rehearse on Tuesday nights, 7-30 to 9.30pm in Annandale in Sydney's inner west.

    Our next concert will be on Sunday 9 November when we hope to perform music by Victoria, Monteverdi, Britten, Tavener, Gjello,  Lauridsen  and more.

    Vocal Infusion is a passionate and inclusive mixed gender barbershop harmony chorus of about 40 singers. It is one of three choruses that are part of Melbournaires Barbershop Chorus Inc (MBCI) which is affiliated with Barbershop Harmony Australia (BHA). We are dedicated to the art form of a cappella singing, primarily in the barbershop style, fostering musical excellence, camaraderie, and community engagement.  We currently rehearse monthly in Doncaster East.

    Permanent Part-time employment opportunities for Singers are currently being offered by the  Choir of St Patrick’s Cathedral Parramatta.  The choir has vacancies available for Soprano & Tenor voices. Alto, counter-tenor & bass voices are also invited to apply (subject to available positions).  Remuneration packages range from approx.. $8,000 - $10,000 per annum (including Superannuation and extras) per position.

    About St. Patrick’s Cathedral Choir

    The Choir of St. Patrick’s Cathedral Parramatta is a mixed voice ensemble providing music for the liturgical services within a busy city church in the heart of Western Sydney.   It consists of talented young musicians who enjoy singing sacred music and supporting the worship of a vibrant and multicultural Catholic community. 
    The repertoire of the choir ranges from Gregorian chants and renaissance polyphony through to 19th century romantic works and 20th century contemporary classical compositions.

    Selection Criteria

    The position is open to anyone in full or part-time work or education.  Catholic or Non-Catholic singers who are supportive of the Christian mission may apply.  Successful candidates will be required to demonstrate a high standard of musicianship. Exceptional sight-reading skills and confident vocal ability are essential.  Candidates must present a professional attitude at all times, and understand the commitment requirement of this employment opportunity.

    ABOUT THE NATIONAL BOYS CHOIR OF AUSTRALIA

    Founded in 1964, the National Boys Choir of Australia (NBCA) is recognised as one of the country’s premier treble choirs. With around 200 boys aged 7–15, choristers undertake a two-year training program before joining the Performing Choir. Trained in the traditional bel canto style, the Choir’s diverse repertoire spans early motets, contemporary commissions, children’s operas, musical theatre, art songs, and global folk music. Now in its 61st year, NBCA is a registered not-for-profit charity, and a friendly, family-oriented organisation with an enviable reputation for excellence in choral music education.

    WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

    The NBCA has two positions available on its Artistic Staff, which could be filled separately or by one person.

     

    DIRECTOR OF TRAINING CHOIRS (Part-time)

    The Director of Training Choirs will lead the Elementary and Junior Choir programs.

    The role includes overseeing vocal and musicianship training, stagecraft, performance and rehearsal discipline, and fostering key personal qualities such as kindness, respect, and reliability

    Responsibilities include communication with parents, supporting concerts and other events, managing recruitment and auditions, and building strong relationships with staff, choristers, and families.

    The Director of Training Choirs will commence the training of choristers to develop their voices in traditional bel canto style, promoting healthy, clear tone; pure vowel production; crisp diction; energetic well-supported breath; and refined sense of pitch

    Supported by the NBCA administration team, the Director of Training Choirs will ensure the highest standards of training and preparation for promoting boys to the Performing Choir.

    The main responsibilities in this role include:

    ·        Selecting and teaching repertoire (rehearsals on Wednesday afternoon during school terms)

    ·        Directing the Training Choirs in performances

    ·        Managing the Training Choir staff

    ·        Oversight of the Training Choir library

    ·        Oversight of Training Choir uniforms (in conjunction with the Wardrobe Manager)

    ·        Oversight of the audition process & running new chorister auditions (in conjunction with the Artistic Director)

     

    PERFORMING CHOIR TUTOR (Part-time)

    The Performing Choir Tutor will support the Artistic Director in preparing choristers for performances, recordings, and tours. The main responsibilities in this role include:

    ·        Attending rehearsals on Friday evenings during school terms, and at occasional other times, including performances

    ·        Enabling Performing Choristers to develop their voices in traditional bel canto style, promoting healthy, clear tone; pure vowel production; crisp diction; energetic well-supported breath; and refined sense of pitch

    ·        Assisting to teach and demonstrate repertoire

    ·        Encouraging the development of choristers as disciplined musicians and performers, such as musicianship & music literacy; stagecraft; and promoting high standards of appearance, rehearsal etiquette, self-discipline, leadership, and respect

    ·        Recognition & understanding of vocal problems

     

    WHAT YOU’LL BRING

    ·        Extensive experience as a singer and choir trainer, especially with primary-aged treble (boys’) voices

    ·        A strong knowledge of appropriate choral repertoire

    ·        Understanding of various musical & vocal styles

    ·        High level personal vocal skills & training in healthy vocal production in the bel canto style

    ·        Strong communication with other staff and positive relationship-building with choristers and their families

    Do you love making music with others? The Thomas Cantley Singers are looking for a talented accompanist to join their team! We rehearse at Wolloongabba, Thursday nights from 6.15-8.15 pm during school terms, with some additional rehearsals, workshops and performances along the way.

    You'll be working alongside our Music Director Madonna Forster and a friendly group of singers who share a passion for music. This is a paid, contract-based role.
