WVYC was founded in 1969 by conductor Don Whitbread and his pianist wife Barbara. Don and Barbara led the choir for 27 years before handing the reins to Alpha Gregory. Olivia Swift has been conductor since 2018
The choir performs a diverse repertoire and especially performs works by living Australian composers. A number of Australian works have been commissioned by the choir.
WVYC has performed for royalty, government, business and community functions and is proud to host the annual Carols by Candlelight at Stage 88 in Commonwealth Park. The choir has toured nationally and overseas and has released several recordings.
