LAUNCESTON MALE CHOIR Position Vacant – Musical Director/Conductor The Launceston Male Voice Choir, a community choir based at Launceston in Tasmania is looking to appoint a suitable Musical Director/Conductor to commence in 2023. The Choir Established over 80 years ago, the choir has a membership of 20 singers that practice Tuesday afternoons at Glenara Lakes retirement village at Youngtown, from 2 to 3.45 The Choir has a varied repertoire of music from folk, musical theatre, contemporary, spirituals, jazz, country & western, and classics. A piano is accompaniment for practice, plus for concert performances access to modern audio equipment. Purchases are made of regular music which is held in an extensive library. The choir holds 12 concerts for retirement villages and some 8 or 10 miscellaneous concerts or public functions throughout the year. The successful applicant will possess suitable musical attributes, including:
implementing productive and interesting rehearsals with the musical team
effectively teaching TTB parts and developing of members general musical capabilities
recommending suitable and varied repertoires
accompanying the choir when required at rehearsals and at concerts
contributing to committee meetings in planning concert programs
