CHOIR MUSICAL DIRECTOR (MD) – LAVERTON COMMUNITY CHOIR, VIC

Due to retirement, we are seeking a relaxed, fun and community minded MD volunteer to guide us weekly in song!

We are a not for profit, non-audition all abilities choir who have been singing many years and enjoy a handful of performances a year within the local and surrounding community areas.

We have an extensive and wide range of music for the MD to instantly tap into and we use backing tracks for performances.

With full support from the committee and members, the successful MD will ideally have;
 

• · Passion for community choirs and an ability to work with singers of a range of abilities, from competent to beginners.
• · Sound musical experience (competent pianist, ability to read, interpret and arrange music)
• · An inclusive and open leadership style, with a commitment to having a positive relationship with all members of the Choir.
• · A desire to work with the committee to develop and implement a long-term plan for the choir.
• · Previous experience as a choir leader is preferred.

We follow the Victorian school terms and rehearse on Thursday evenings from 7 pm – 9 pm (with a 15-minute supper break at 8 pm) in Laverton.  

This role is on a volunteer basis, a modest travel allowance may apply.

The position will be effective from term 3, 2023 however, earlier involvement from June with the outgoing MD would be encouraged.
