The Mapleton Choir Needs a New Conductor

Mapleton Choir is a non audition community group who are celebrating their 40th anniversary of singing together this year.
Their conductor for the last 17 years has just announced that she will be stepping down at the end of this year.

Our choir of 30+ members have just commenced the process of seeking out a suitably qualified musical director who can enthusiastically lead the choir into 2024 and beyond with renewed vigour and vim!

Mapleton is in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland situated on the Blackall Range just 10 minutes west of Nambour in Queensland. The choir join in song every Monday night in the Kureelpa Hall from 7-9pm and are backed up by a dedicated committee.

They are currently rehearsing some of their favourite songs from the last few years for a gala anniversary concert in late October 2023 including Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, Vivaldi’s Gloria, South African Folk Songs, Ernesto’s Lecuona’s MalagueƱa and a medley of sea shanties to name but a few! Performances during the year include two concerts, retirement villages and any other requests from the community for Christmas or Anzac Day events.

Expressions of interest for this position can be directed to our secretary Kathie Buswell themapletonchoir@outlook.com
