The Seaside Singers Choir is a non-for-profit, non-auditioned, all-abilities choir found in beautiful Nelson Bay in Port Stephens NSW.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, inspiring Conductor/ Musical Director who can build on our repertoire and extend our musical knowledge.
Our focus is on the joy of making music together and although our choir is aging, we continue to move audiences and attract new members. Our repertoire is varied, comprising popular and classical genres as well as selections from musicals. We have several performances each year as well as intermittent short concerts in nursing homes and shopping malls each term. Rehearsals are held each Tuesday afternoon 4:30 –6 p.m. There are also optional Sectional practices lead by Section Leaders each Monday for singers wishing to practice their particular part -Soprano, Alto, Tenor or Base.

Main Responsibilities:

• Lead / manage choir rehearsals and performances.
• Develop the musicality of the whole choir.
• Initiate and organise performances
• Select repertoire for performances with the help of a small music team.
• Take part in and report to monthly Committee meetings.

Selection Criteria:

• The person will have:
• a passion for singing,
• sound musical experience
• an ability to read and interpret music.
• an inclusive, open leadership style
• an ability to work cooperatively in a team
• be able to manage and lead choir practices
• a commitment to having a positive relationship with all members of the choir.

The position would particularly suit a retired person wishing to continue their engagement in musical endeavours or a younger conductor wanting to gain experience.
An honorarium can be negotiated for the right applicant.
